This is the best I can do. I realise that I need more shading between and underneath the apples. Not sure how I should have painted the background. On Nov.20th I posted pictures of the only other water colours that I've been reasonably happy with on my other blog.( Jenni's Jottings) A completely different style.

I've added a few more layers of transparent colour, forcing myself to let each coat dry (this is part of my problem) before over painting. I'm panicking about the background!

I've made a pig's ear of this. I get very frustrated. I don't think I shall post it on the Studio Atelier Challenge.

A Try with Water Colour

This was painted in response to this month's Studio Atelier Challenge.  I am not familiar with wc and I have no idea how to paint a background nor if I should add more colour, or indeed how to do it!  My instincts are to proceed with coloured pencils or maybe pastels and make it mixed media. If I tried again, I would use Acrylics.

Challenge 11 on the Paint and Draw Together site is from a beautiful photo of a pomegranate. I am using Polychromos coloured pencils on Fabriano Classico paper.

Soft pastel on Pastelmat 10"x7"

This pastel was painted in response to a challenge posted on the Paint and Draw Together site, and I'm very excited to become a member. The only concern I have is that I might find it difficult to produce a new painting every 3 weeks. However, we shall see!
