This is the first black cat that I have painted in any medium. I used Pitt pastel pencils on anthracite Pastelmat. To obtain a rich black, I under painted the darkest fur with prussian blue, then I used black and various greys, pale blue and white to model it.

Thank you both. I really like pastel, but usually find it a bit messy. However the Pitt pencils are quite hard and Claire Fontaine paper takes a lot of layers with no need to fix.
