A Try with Water Colour

This was painted in response to this month's Studio Atelier Challenge.  I am not familiar with wc and I have no idea how to paint a background nor if I should add more colour, or indeed how to do it!  My instincts are to proceed with coloured pencils or maybe pastels and make it mixed media. If I tried again, I would use Acrylics.

with watercolor you can build color by adding layer on top of layer. wait until each layer dries. you can also "wash" in a background color. luminous colors can be achieved with watercolor if you take the time.

Its a good try Jenni!I liked the way you achieved transparency in your work and only watercolors are capable of giving you such effect.Watercolors do need a little planning as you don't really have too much scope of making mistakes.I myself not very comfortable with watercolors but do feel that practicing did make me a little familiar to some techniques. So,keep practicing:)

Thank you Connie and Sasha for your encouragement. I have painted one or two pictures in wc, but they were done with a dry brush. I will post them on my other blog if I can find them, but I am completely out of my comfort zone.
